instant gratification

no longer found in nature
before there were digital cameras, instant gratification came in the form of a 3.5" x 4.25" rectangle that, like something out of a harry potter novel, popped out of a camera only seconds after the shutter was clicked and developed right there in front of your eyes. i acquired a polaroid camera for $5 on a recent shopping trip to SCRAP (Scroungers Center for Reusable Art Parts) and was delighted to find that it actually works! unfortunately, the film is being discontinued despite a resurgence in popularity of this type of photography. there is hope out there, however, for analog geeks like me. a group of folks, among them a former polaroid employee, are in the process of collaborating to invent a new instant film pack. check it out here

When the polaroid first appeared, it was a great invention! Instant pictures! Guess now the digital world is the equivalent for current times. We still have quite a few polaroids of daughter number one who was an early 70's baby.
